Facelift Houston, Houston Facelift
by Dr. Berzin in Houston Texas.
Over
time, the long-term effects of gravity, exposure to sun, dry air, and
general stress takes its toll on an individual's face and neckline.
Jowls can develop under the jawline with folds and fat deposits.
Sometimes creases begin to form between the nose and the mouth.
A
facelift can considerably reduce these signs of aging by removing excess
fat, tightening the underlying muscles, and redraping the skin around
the neck and face. Facelifts can be done alone, or frequently
performed in conjunction with another procedure such as a browlift,
eyelid surgery, or nose reshaping. If your problem areas are
limited to the neck, a more conservative procedure, known as a "platysmaplasty"
will be recommended. In some cases, a facelift can reduce the
outward signs of aging by ten or fifteen years.

A
facelift can "reset the clock" on the aging process, enhance
your appearance and self-esteem, and restore a more youthful and
refreshed look by redistributing saggy cheek fat, smoothing out deep
wrinkles, tightening underlying muscles of the face and neck, and
removing excess skin. As we age, the effects of gravity, sun exposure,
and the stresses of our daily lives can be seen in our faces. Supportive
structures tend to stretch and deep creases form between the nose and
mouth, the jawline droops (jowling), and the neck becomes fatty and
loose (turkey gobbler). By redistributing the fat and
tightening these structures, a fresher, more youthful appearance can be
restored. In order to have a more complete balance, a facelift is
commonly performed in conjunction with other procedures such as a
forehead lift, eyelid surgery, fat injection, or nose reshaping.
There are a variety of incision locations, depending on the problem
areas, and they are usually very well hidden above the hairline at the
temples, in a natural line in front of the ear, and behind the ear to
the lower scalp. If the neck needs extensive work, a small incision may
also be made just under the chin in the shadow line.
During
the procedure, once all the structures are restored and the skin readied
for redraping, tissue glue (spray containing components from your
own blood) is used to seal the lifted skin to the underlying
muscle bed. By creating this seal, there is less bruising, less
swelling, less likelihood of needing a drain under the skin, and the
total recovery time is significantly decreased as compared to when the
spray is not used.
For
those people that have less severe signs of facial aging, a
mini-facelift, which can be performed as an in office procedure, can
achieve a significant amount of improvement with fewer incisions and
less recovery time. Because the aging signs are less severe, fewer
structures need to be uncovered and corrected. Just as with the
conventional facelift, drooping jowls, loose and fatty necks, saggy
cheeks, and extra skin can all be corrected, and a more youthful rested
appearance can be restored.
Eyelid
surgery (blepharoplasty) is a procedure that restores a more youthful,
well-rested, and vibrant appearance to the eyes by redistributing fat
bags and removing excess skin and muscle from the upper and lower
eyelids. Eyelid surgery can correct drooping upper lids, puffy bags
above and below your eyes, redundant upper eyelid skin, and hanging
lower lid skin, all features that can give you the appearance of being
older and more tired than you feel, and may even interfere with your
vision. While it can add an upper eyelid crease to Asian eyes, it will
not erase evidence of your ethnic or racial heritage. Blepharoplasty can
be done alone, or in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures such as
a facelift or a browlift, and the incisions are very difficult to see
because they are hidden in your natural creases. Both men and women
benefit greatly from this procedure and achieve good results with nearly
invisible scars.

A forehead lift
or "browlift" is a procedure that restores a more youthful,
refreshed, and cheery look to the forehead, eye brows and upper eyelid
areas. By removing excess skin and muscle, the procedure corrects
drooping brows, improves the horizontal lines and furrows that can make
you look angry, sad or tired, and tightening the skin of the upper
eyelid. The incisions are well hidden along the frontal hairline or in
the hair, and with the use of an
endoscope (a small camera that allows the procedure to be performed with
minimal incisions), the incisions are almost impossible to see. The
particular type of incision to be used is dependent on your goals and
desires. Also, a forehead lift is often performed in conjunction with
eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) or a facelift to provide a smoother,
overall balanced look to the eyes and face.

Rhinoplasty
(surgery to reshape the nose) can change the size of your nose (smaller
or bigger), take off a hump, change the shape of the tip, narrow the
span of the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and your
upper lip. It may also correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve
some breathing problems by straitening the septum. There are so many
possible ways to change the appearance of the nose that it is
important that you have a specific idea of what you would like
corrected.
In general, the
nose takes its shape from the cartilage and bony framework that
underlies the skin. This delicate relationship between these structures
is what is altered during the reshaping process. Incisions are
very well hidden inside the nose, and occasionally, a small incision is
made in the shadow line under the nose. By removing, adding, or changing
the position of the cartilages, bones and soft tissue, your desired nose
shape can be achieved.
